Noopura Bhramari (R.) Karnataka – one of the meritorious institutions dedicated to the studies, publication, advanced research, documentation and scholarship in performing and allied arts, is accredited as a Centre for Indian Knowledge Systems from the IKS Division at the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
The Centre has successfully implemented numerous programmes and projects under the IKS Division with outstanding results. Interns trained here have received prestigious recognition at both national and international levels, along with notable publications. In addition to the Noopurabhramari magazine and journal, the Centre has accomplished nearly 10+6 book publications, and organized initiatives such as 3 conferences, 8 symposiums, 11 certificate courses, 12 workshops, 2 internships and a fellowship programme, 40 special broadcasts on All India Radio, over 20 research-based performances, numerous magazine and journal publications, and the curation of 150 audio-visual series and documentaries.
Now, the Centre is glad to invite applications for Internships from eligible and interested candidates for the prestigious National level Institutional internship programme “Shodha Bhramari- 2025 “. This internship programme is centered around the theme: “Documentation and Analysis of Traditional Theatre Forms and Deṡī Dance Techniques of India.”
Interested candidates are encouraged to apply and actively contribute to the theme through various modes of engagement.
Aims and Objectives
This internship is in line with the goals of the National Education Policy (NEP), which focuses on well-rounded learning and encourages combining different fields of study while helping students discover and develop their interests and talents.
It’s a great opportunity for those interested in learning about, documenting, and researching Indian Deśī dance and theatre. This Internship aims to tackle the challenge of articulating and recording movement-based expressions in the most accurate way possible.
What does this internship aim to contribute?
1.Gateways to understanding various aspects of performance.
2.Reviving endangered practices and creating awareness.
3.Contributing to the preservation and revitalization of India’s traditional performing arts while also challenging limited perceptions.
4.Enables comparative studies, encouraging intercultural dialogue and appreciation across diverse traditions.
5.Aims to build a scholarly vocabulary for Deshi dance (in today’s world it is generally called as folk dance) and traditional theatre ( like Yakshagana, Terukkottu, Chau, etc), facilitating their inclusion in academic discourse.
6.Integrating Śāstra lakṣaṇa (theory) with Prayoga (practice)

Guidelines
A) Engaging in the video, audio and photo documentation of the desired performing art form (strictly adhering to the theme) by conducting fieldwork.
B) Submitting 3-4 general articles as a report following the fieldwork.
C) preparing a Course material (In line with the mentorship).
D) Designing posters.
