NAMASTE

Parakīyā is the type of nāyikā who does not belong to the nāyaka. Infidelity by a lady towards her man was considered as one of the pañcamahāpāpam-s yet today she is considered as the highest form of devotion.

How did this transition happen?
Do you know if there are any varieties in this nāyikā?
What are the things a dancer must remember when she portrays a parakīyā nāyikā?
What are the do’s and the don’t’s while choreographing?

A research paper along with a practical demonstration (2 dance pieces) will be presented by Dr Dwaritha Vishwanatha on August 12th 2018 at 2.30 PM as a part of the Dance research symposium organised by Noopura Bhramari and Kalagowri at Kalagowri, Basavanagudi.
